Status Update #2
Hello, people. I'm going to make a status update after so long. I'm very sorry that it's been so long since you got any updates on development. I'm going to tell you some information.
My older brother (the developer of the unofficial updates) either lost motivation to develop V1.0.3, forgot about working on it, or both. He had a lot of school work on his hands, so that contributed to the reason behind development going on hold. But since it's summer break and he got motivation to work on it again, he's going to do so starting today, and he will be working on V1.0.3, though there might've been changes that he originally planned to implement in the unofficial updates that he later forgot.
Another thing that I want to mention for the development of V1.0.3 is that it will no longer need 5 suggestions before being released. Any suggestions that he wants to implement will be, but there will be no criteria for V1.0.3's release other than its completion.
4 months ago (I think), my older brother compiled the 2nd pre-release build of V1.0.3 for JSP. This is where this post is going to spoil the changes that the pre-release made but also 2 changes that will appear in V1.0.3 (guys, I'm just being nice haha). Here are the changes made in the pre-release:
- Fixed bugs caused by an attempt to refactor the script used for switching between main menus! I think that one of them is that the regular and alternative menus were accidentally swapped.
- Possibly fixed the bug in which the pause menu's background might sometimes not fit the entire screen for some computers, although I'm not exactly sure.
- Fixed the bug in which the player wouldn't start out looking at the pseudo screen in the secret ending!
- Made the "How To" menu's text consistent with the mod's general style of capitalizing the first letter of every word!
- Fixed the bug in which Principal of the Thing could whistle while scolding the player after he gives them detention!
- Fixed the bug in which just standing by a wall of a faculty room can make the game consider the player guilty of entering a faculty room!
- The Rare Teleporter works more like in the official Baldi's Basics games!
- Fixed the bug in which you would move around for a bit after using the Rare Teleporter item when being moved by Gotta Sweep or 1st Prize!
- To be a bit technical, the game now decides whether to permanently or temporarily anger Baldi in the math game if the problem the player got wrong was the first wrong one in a notebook, which, if it is, Baldi is permanently angered. This fixes the infamous bug from the original game in which, on the first notebook, if the player got either the first or second (or both) problem(s) wrong but not the third, Baldi would slap so fast that the slap sound would sound glitched.
- More refactoring.
The 2 changes that will appear in the final version of V1.0.3 is that WD-NoSquee will be usable on Swinging Doors, as suggested by JSP. I know that I already mentioned it before, but it's still a change that going in that version! The 2nd change is that the regular main menu's chalkboard will be changed into a chalkboard that looks like the ones in the school, and the map shown in the credits menu and exits when you have all the notebooks will be changed to account for the Principal's office hallway addition made in V1 of the original mod! The chalkboard change should, as a side effect, fix the issue in which the "Start" and "How To Play" buttons' highlighting glowing are as visible as they should be.
Well, that's it for the status update! My older brother will start working on V1.0.3! Hopefully, it'll be ready to be released by the end of this July! Goodbye, everybody, and I'll see you in another update!
